※연방준비제도(Fed·연준)는 9월 26일 연방공개시장위원회(FOMC) 정례회의를 마
치고 기준금리를 0.25%포인트 인상했다.
다음은 FOMC 성명 전문이다.
Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in August
indicates that the labor market has continued to strengthen and that economic
activity has been rising at a strong rate. Job gains have been strong, on ave
rage, in recent months, and the unemployment rate has stayed low. Household sp
ending and business fixed investment have grown strongly. On a 12-month basis,
both overall inflation and inflation for items other than food and energy rem
ain near 2 percent. Indicators of longer-term inflation expectations are littl
e changed, on balance.
Consistent with its statutory mandate, the Committee seeks to foster maxim
um employment and price stability. The Committee expects that further gradual
increases in the target range for the federal funds rate will be consistent wi
th sustained expansion of economic activity, strong labor market conditions, a
nd inflation near the Committee’s symmetric 2 percent objective over the medi
um term. Risks to the economic outlook appear roughly balanced.
In view of realized and expected labor market conditions and inflation, th
e Committee decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate to 2
to 2-1/4 percent.
In determining the timing and size of future adjustments to the target ran
ge for the federal funds rate, the Committee will assess realized and expected
economic conditions relative to its maximum employment objective and its symm
etric 2 percent inflation objective.
This assessment will take into account a wide range of information, includ
ing measures of labor market conditions, indicators of inflation pressures and
inflation expectations, and readings on financial and international developme
nts.
Voting for the FOMC monetary policy action were: Jerome H. Powell, Chairma
n; John C. Williams, Vice Chairman; Thomas I. Barkin; Raphael W. Bostic; Lael
Brainard; Richard H. Clarida; Esther L. George; Loretta J. Mester; and Randal
K. Quarles.

지난 8월 연방공개시장위원회(FOMC) 이후 수집된 정보는 고용시장이 지속해서 강 

화됐고 경제 활동이 강한 속도로 증가한 것을 시사했다. 최근 몇 달 동안 고용 증가 

세는 평균적으로 강했고 실업률은 낮은 수준을 유지했다. 가계소비와 기업 고정 투자 

는 강하게 증가했다. 12개월 기준 전반적인 물가와 음식과 에너지를 제외한 물가 상 

승률은 2% 부근에 머물렀다. 장기 인플레이션 전망치 지표는 전반적으로 거의 변화하 

지 않았다. 

위원회는 법적으로 명시된 소임에 따라 완전 고용과 물가 안정을 촉진할 방법을 

모색하고 있다. 위원회는 추가적인 점진적인 연방기금 금리 목표치의 상향이 경제 

활동의 지속적인 확장과 강한 고용시장 여건, 중기적으로 위원회의 대칭적인 목표인 

2% 부근 물가 상승률과 부합할 것으로 예상한다. 경제 전망에 대한 위험은 대략 균 

형 잡혔다. 

현실화되고 예상된 고용시장 상황과 물가상승률 관점에서 위원회는 연방기금(FF 

) 금리 목표치를 2.00~2.25% 범위로 인상하기로 했다. 

연방기금금리 목표 범위 조정 시기와 규모를 결정하기 위해 위원회는 완전 고용 

및 대칭적인 2% 물가 상승률 목표와 관련된 실현 됐거나 예상되는 경제 상황을 평가 

할 것이다. 이런 평가에서는 고용시장 상황 지표와 물가상승 압력 및 물가 상승률 기 

대 지표, 금융시장과 세계 상황들을 포함한 광범위한 정보가 검토 대상이 될 것이다
